White Lagoon and golf on the cost of Black sea

If you are one of those people for whom a sea holiday with a cocktail in hand, enjoying an incredible panoramic view of the sea is not enough and you need adventure, this article is just for you.

Apart from irresistible luxury in Scandinavian style and great location with beautiful nature, the White Lagoon complex is located very close to some of the best golf courses in Bulgaria - Lighthouse, BlackSeaRama, Thracian Rocks.

There are various theories about the origin of the word golf, one of the most curious is the abbreviation of "Gentlemen only, ladies forbidden". However, many professional female golfers will rightly object to the claim, with the indisputable proof that there are championships of various levels for women all over the world.

The origin of the game of golf provokes even greater debate, but one thing is clear for sure – entertainment similar to golf with similar to modern balls and sticks has existed in Europe since the Middle Ages. There are claims that the Scots discovered golf, but according to experts this is a myth, because the passion of the Dutch in this type of game precedes that of the Scots. Proof of this is that in 1927 in the Dutch town of Loenen en de Wecht, locals had fun pushing a leather ball with a stick. The winner of the competition was the one who scored the ball in the goal a few hundred meters away with the least number of shots. Some experts say that in the Netherlands the game was most common in the seventeenth century and became a real hit among the Dutch.

However, according to the latest data, a similar game of modern running on a field with holes with a stick in hand, was practiced in China for 500 years, before golf was first mentioned in Scotland. Then 10 types of sticks were used, comparable to today's, but inlaid with jade and gold. This data confirms today's common belief that golf is a game for the rich.

But in any case, the modern hobby, which has been practiced for centuries, is considered a Scottish invention, especially when it comes to the rule of going around 18 holes to determine the winner.

Did you know that...

The first international golf tournament was held on October 17, 1860.

Nowadays, golf is not an Olympic sport. Golf competitions were included only twice in the Summer Olympics - in 1900 and 1904.

Golf is the only game practiced on the Moon. In 1971, astronaut Alan Shepard hit a golf ball with his stick on the surface of Earth's natural satellite. He is accompanied by the other Apollo 14 member, Edgar Mitchell.

There are no referees in golf. Each player monitors the violations committed by him, the observance of the rules of the game and his own result. That is why golf is popular as a sport for gentlemen.

According to the latest data, there are over 60 million people in the world who are passionate about this sport or practice it as a hobby.

The number of golf courses in the world is constantly growing and currently they are over 31,000.

What IS THE MOST APPROPRIATE AGE TO BECOME A GOLFER?

The game of golf is for people from 2 to 102 years. So why not give it a try, even if you've never tried it? Wherever you go for your first lesson, you will be greeted with a smile, provided with equipment and a coach, and in just a few hours, you will master the basic rules of the game.

The golf legend Tiger Woods is one of the proofs of this - he started playing golf around the time he was walking. At the age of 3, his swing was almost completely built and very similar to the one with which he subsequently won 14 Grand Slam victories. And in April 2007, 102-year-old American Elsie McLean became the oldest person to achieve a hole in one - putting the ball in the hole with a single blow.
